Budget (including currency): As little as possible (euro)

Country: The Netherlands

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Basically just an internet browser for youtube/pirate hat wearing stuff

Heys, I'm putting together a simple media PC and wanted to run the build by some people just to make sure I'm not making any mistakes. The CPU, PSU, motherboard, and ram are from my old PC so those those will just get reused (I might look at some budget PSU's seeing as this one doesn't even have an 80+ rating) I saw the be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 650 W 80+ Gold on the LABS site that I might pick up.

I know the cooler is way overkill but for an A10-7800, but I'm also getting it as a backup cooler for my main machine (ryzen 9 9950x3d).

The drive I'm not sure about, I don't need anything special since it just needs to hold an operating system and a browser.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

i hope you don´t want to buy a new noctua cooler (from your original pcpartpicker list) for that cpu ...
A10- 7800 is worth €5 or for free (cost of shipping) these days .

also it´s power consumption under max. load is no higher than 70w -
no reason to put an expensive cooler on such a CPU -
any €10-15 cooler rated for 95w supporting FM2+ will do the job ...

corsair VS450 will have no problem to run this system despite its age -
the efficiency is not such a big deal in this case either -
this PSU can still maintain around 75-80% efficiency even under light loads (below 100w) -
given its age its performance slightly deteriorated for sure but this system will barely put any stress on this PSU .

No like I said the cooler will also function as a backup for my main machine which has a Ryzen 9 9950X3D.
I was talking with someone on a discord server and they suggested this part list instead, they also said the same thing you did on the PSU

I'm not just looking into some more info on that drive and cooler, since I haven't heard of either of those.

don´t buy a €65 cooler just for an off chance you may one day use it on your main CPU (your main cpu already has its own cooler i imagine) .
i call tell you once you install it on that A10 7800 chances are it´s gonna stay there "forever" ...

It has an AIO currently. but as I now said multiple times, I want a backup cooler incase the one I have breaks. I hope it will stay on the A10, but I would rather have and not need then need and not have, especially because it would only save me like what? 30 bucks?

I second this, even if your 360mm AIO fails you could just order Thermalright cooler (cheaper than Noctua but still good in terms of cooling), I doubt you wouldn't be waiting too long in case you ran into problems, at max 2-3 days if it's weekend.

If the AIO's pump ever fails, the mounting and the little bit of water could still potentially cool the CPU enough for the most basic tasks if needed, though browsers do spike these AM5 CPU's quite much.

At the same time AM5s are good at riding 95C critical temps without problems, so it would still be relatively safe for any essential task like checking e-mail perhaps even watching video would be borderline possible..

10-20€ cooler would do enough of a good job for non-gaming on A10, that's 40-50€ difference.

Why not just get cheapest available drive from your e-store?

https://nl.pcpartpicker.com/list/nTDz7w

Like the first 200GB+ SSD that comes up, if all you need is OS storage, and no storage at all for movies or something.

Also this is really good budget PSU, if you want something not old

MSI MAG A550BN

Or maybe this

ADATA XPG PYLON

Unless the BeQuiet is cheaper.

Is the case aesthetics option? If yes, the only aesthetic alternative is full black version of that case: Lian Li A3-mATX

Also others have good point about buying some small standalone PC from entire budget, if the few parts you're getting cost ~200€, those PCs are within the price range, if they aren't missing anything like wifi or enough storage.

there is only a little chance that this will ever happen before you upgrade or sell your main PC .
and even if it does you can just order a new cooler when you will actually need it instead of
wasting money needlessly to cool off a 5 dollar cpu with a 65 dollar cooler ...

but it´s your money so your call .

for A10 7800  this cooler is all you need (you will save 50 bucks)

to answer OP's original question.  just get a second hand branded SATA SSD ~ 400-500GB.  Don't be tempted by off brand new cheapos.  ebay usually has a plethora of second hand SSDs and going second hand will allow you to get more capacity for your money.  If it's only holding an OS and a browser there's no sense worrying about data rot bad sectors or anything.  I'm still running an OCZ Vertex 4 500GB in my daily driver.  an SSD well over 10 years old now.

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

Ya, finding a used mini office PC that has a 7th gen Intel processor should be more than sufficient. If you want windows 8 support you'll need an 8th gen CPU mini PC though.

I find that the HP ProDesk mini pc is good (not because I like HP, I hate them) but because they are super easy to service, plus they tend to have HDMI out (once you get into their 8th gen intel versions) which is a nice have for a media PC.

Before RAM went crazy I was able to find places selling 7th gen versions for like $ 90 bucks Canadian and 8th Gen versions for $ 150.
