I have an acer aspire 15 inch laptop.  I cannot get it to charge the battery.  I've replaced the charger, which slightly worked then stopped.  I replaced the charging port with an OEM replacement and it still does not work.  I cannot power the computer on with the battery out either.  Anybody know what might be wrong?

PS. I tried the charger on an acer netbook and it worked.

Update, I removed the connector and touched the wires directly off the charger and it didn't work, however the charger DOES work on my netbook.  I think its got a more serious problem, and I got a quote at $150 just to LOOK at it, its only a $250 computer.  I think its a parts machine.

If that's a parts machine, you might try to salvage the mobo and CPU cooling system for a HTPC/NAS.

Any unknown button should be pressed even number of times.

Yeah thats what my intentions are.  I've replaced the charger, and the charging jack and nothing works.  I think I might try to bypass the charging system and make it a DC computer (why i called it a parts machine)

And yes, when the battery is in it doesnt charge, when the battery is out it doesnt turn on.  So it sucks when the battery dies, which only lasts like an hour in this thing to start with.  The owner said to just keep it, they no longer want it.
