Per the title; I recently stumbled upon someone selling AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D with ASUS ROG Strix B650E F Gaming Mobo combo for $275 (haggled him down) so naturally I jumped on it.

I am currently using the ASUS TUF Gaming B550-PLUS WiFi II with an Ryzen 5 5600x. I am using the Cooler Master Hyper 212 BE for cooling. I wanted to eventually swap it all out for an AM5 build and with this deal that stumbled into my lap now is the time. I do need to get RAM but that's an issue for another time but I need recommendations for an AIO that would fit in my Corsair 4000D Airflow White case. I know I cannot use a 360mm AIO for the top. I think it caps out at 280mm. But I want recommendations on what would be a good option for cooling this thing.

I saw this CORSAIR Nautilus 240 RS and was curious if an 240mm would even be enough. I didn't do very much research on this chip other than the TDP is almost double (5600x being 65W and the 7800x3D being 120W). It does recommend on AMDs website liquid cooling so I wanted to go to that. I know I could perhaps get another air cooler but with my case I would need some decent options.

Gaming Rig:

Ryzen 7 7800x3D -30 Curve  | Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE  |  ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Twin Edge OC 12GB  | Patriot Viper Venom 16GB CL30 6000mhz  |  ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-F GAMING WIFI  | WD Blue SN550 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD, 2TB Samsung 870 EVO, 1TB Samsung 870 EVO, 2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD | Corsair 4000D Airflow  | Corsair RM850x Gold Series

The 7800X3D CAN draw 120w but during gaming it usually sits at 70-90w.  Just because it can draw 120w doesn't mean it will do that all the time.

I have actually never seen my own 9800X3D above 100w in CPU heavy games and mine is overclocked to 5.6Ghz.

A 7800X3D can easily be cooled with a dual tower air cooler like a Peerless Assassin SE120 or similar.

Get a Peerless Assassin SE120, save some money and spend the rest on DDR5 RAM... You'll need the money 😛

Can verify, my sister's 7800X3D runs at a mighty cool 65C while cozy gaming, and 90C under power virus with a peerless assassin 120 with a pretty gradual fan curve.

Would this fit into my case? Also I was looking at RAM and would getting CL40 5200mhz for the time being be bad?

Yes, The Peerless Assassin SE120 is 155mm in height while your case supports CPU coolers up to 170mm.
Pleenty of space 🙂

Assuming that the 4000D doesn't have a ridiculously deep rear cable management section, her Zalman S2 (great value case btw, super easy to build in and looks very nice) is just deep enough to accommodate it and is like 50mm narrower than the 4000D airflow

5200Mhz CL40 is incredibly slow but X3D CPU's does deal with slower RAM better.

So I would be good to buy the Assassin and the CL40 RAM from Newegg and set this thing up?

One 100% on the CPU Cooler, its the most popular CPU cooler on the market. Its price to performance is incredible 🙂

Whats the price for the 5200Mhz CL40 RAM on Newegg? Are you getting 2x16GB?

Is that one stick of 16GB or 2x8GB?
Sorry for the questions.

It's 2x8 Sticks of CL40 5200mhz; heres the link

Okay.  I know that AM5 does not like 8GB modules compared to 16GB and getting a single 16GB stick MIGHT be better?

I am not quite sure so I will have to call on @RONOTHAN## for more knowledge.

I am thinking that you get one stick of DDR5 6000Mhz CL30 so you can upgrade later with one stick for 2x16GB.

Instead of being stuck with 2x8GB modules.

Is this RAM reliable? If so I can do that one and order another at a later date

Yes, we have recommended that Patriot Viper DDR5 6000Mhz CL30 hundreds of times on the LTT Forum, its as reliable as any other known brand 🙂

I have personally used it in a few AM5 builds as well.

The performance hit with 1 stick really isn't all that bad and being able to just upgrade later really is the way to go in my opinion.
