I'm on Windows 11 and cannot install the latest Nvidia game ready driver for some reason, the installer keeps failing, I've tried updating it through device manager as well and it says access is denied (apologies for the poor quality screenshots, posting this from my phone)

Try an older driver, do a clean install. See If the same thing happens.

Also, I have not updated my drivers in two years, because I don't like dealing with Nvidia's BS if there is any.

Ah acces denied is because driver is in use for some reason, take out the internet cable of your pc then boot into safe mode and uninstall driver after that reboot then install driver once you're done then put internet cable back in.

This prevents windows update to install driver themselves.

I'm jank tinkerer if it works then it works.

Regardless of compatibility 🐧🖖

do you even need it?

it only fixes issues for like 3 games;

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/details/265874/

it's getting tedious when they release "new" drivers that only address 1 problem for 1 game.

the last few updates have been like that.

tried that, still fails

have you downloaded them directly from nvidia, or only tried through other means?

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/results/

hit the "find" button.

also you can try going into Device Manager and select "Show Hidden Devices" and remove/delete any nvidia orphans that DDU may have missed.

Yes, I've been running the driver installer I downloaded directly from Nvidia

I never update my drivers... everything just works...

Apparently there was bug with RAYTRACING for RE Requiem... but I didn't even notice I thought it looks really good!  (currently playing with path tracing... nice gimmick!)

They did allegedly fix it, will see when I play next time ... 👍

DDU

Did you do it in safe mode though?

(also unplug internet until new driver is installed)

Well according to him, he doesn't have any driver now so I guess now he does!?

Your GPU is old it probably doesn't need such new drivers,so try:

Or:

(my favorite driver currently, but if you can't find it - and I have reasons to believe it's an Asus proprietary driver - then get one just before or after that 🙂 )

it's fine, I had a restore point from before I uninstalled the drivers, The only reason why I'm trying to update my drivers is because I'm trying to play death stranding 2, and it keeps throwing up a warning every time I launch the game saying my drivers are out of date, I'm currently on 581.80, it's working fine apart from death stranding 2 throwing up the warning

Oh I see, yeah that's annoying but I would just ignore it for now...
