Context: my apartment’s transformer got short-circuited and whole apt went off grid until repaired (2hr), but my flats main breaker went off.

while playing game on pc,

suddenly in total blackout i saw electrical fire at top of vision(don’t know where it came from)(my guess its from fan backside of me reflected on monitor), pretty sure its not from pc,but my ac’s voltage stabiliser, my ceiling fan and wifi router adapter is gone(burnt i think).sad!

after sometime we got power and i checked my pc it’s turning on, ran heaven benchmark for 5mins, checked monitor, checked studio monitors, checked racing wheel. all working fine.

question is: is my pc and its parts n speakers n wheel okay, will i have any future issues?

i know i don’t have avr or ups(my bad)connected to mains through extension board with tiny glass fuse(fuse is okay), normally we have clean current.

ordered avr for now.

my fear is i recently upgraded to nitro plus 9060xt gpu, will there any dmg to it?🥺🥺

psu: antec 750 hcg

If it works it works. No way to know what might happen in the future.

I mean I once had a transformer explode around where I live, and we had a decent surge come thru. Power didnt go off but my PC stayed on fine. I have all my electronics plugged in to surge protectors. I now have a UPS, but I use it primarily for my NAS and Plex server.  But if you have a decent surge protector that should at least provide some level of protection.

For the record all  the hardware from that incident still works and that was literally years and years ago at this point. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

i assume you mean Automative voltage ruglator it's not the same as surge protection i don't know if the AVR has surge protection built in or not please review the manual

in your case UPS would have both however be mindful to the UPS type you use try to pick A Line-Interactive one with true sinwave output and surge protection built in  it's pricer but better for you computer always check the manual before buying

EDIT: another thing forgot to mention check the surge rating not all power surge protections is equal higher ratings is better

and nothing is better than unplugging it in the first place what i mean is if you see that there is thunder storm or something that is likely to cause a surge then is better to unplug everything

and don't leave things plugged although i am guilty of this myself

that depends on the internal protection in your PSU and there is no way to know if you really anxious about it  try to ask the company for inception although it could be not economical for you

at that point replacing it could be more economical for you

i suggest you just invest in good UPS as a starting point

good luck
