I have a privacy screen protector on my iphone 17 pro max and i noticed some very light touches dont register, im not used to it yet because my older phone that i used didnt have a protective screen so i was wondering if these actually affect it that much? i know they probably do but i didnt know it was to that extent

If it's not applied perfectly, then it probably affects it. The digitiser on a phone, which is the touch sensing layer, is very close to the original glass of the phone. If you put a screen protector on it, then it increases the distance between the digitiser and your finger

it seems to be applied perfectly fine to me

Only thing I haven't seen mentioned is typically a phone will have a screen protector setting in which you tell the phone to make the touch sensitivity more sensitive to help reduce issues similar to OP's experience. Might be worth looking into.

iPhones don’t have that setting unfortunately
