Hey all,

I've recently upgraded to a used 3080ti from a 1080ti. Ever since I've installed it, I've had inconsistent errors triggering a VGA light on boot. So far I've been able to get it to boot by just holding the power button and trying again, it tends to work by the third or fourth time.

I've had VGA errors caused fairly recently by a dead video card. I'd assume its that this time too, since the 1080ti seems to work fine. Has anyone had this sort of problem before? seems strange for it to fix itself occasionally...

Relevant specs:

cpu: r72700 non-x

MB: asus tuf x570-pro wifi

Ram: Teamgroup 32g@3200mt/s DOCP

GPU: EVGA 3080ti ftw3

Boot drive: INTEL SSDPEKNW010T8

Have you updated the BIOS? There are some BIOS revisions on X570 that did not work with the 30 series cards when they were released, or had weird inconsistent issues with them. That would be the first thing I'd do at least.

the bios is from the start of 2025, I'm not really confident that would be the cause.

there is a more recent version that "improves system stability" but i kinda dont wanna risk updating it,  i don't want it to error out in the restart process and corrupt the mobo.
