Tandberg Data back??

i got in a call with a guy from "eparts" he gave me many informations and looks like that tandbergdata which was part of overland-tandberg company have been absorbed by eparts, which about 7 months ago started to produce again all the tandberg's products, they still offer the same exact products and will support hardware which were bought from the old company given the fact that they have been bought in 2022/2023. HOWEVER. this is true as far as i could understand ONLY for europe, so i don't know exactly if there's a way to buy/get support from the US or other countries

hey everyone! 

 

at my job we use overland-tandberg's RDX quikstor 8 and i've stumbled upon this website below which looks like it's tandberg (possibly the former company before overland took over?) but when i try to download the new firmware it redirects me to a google drive link where there's the new and some old firmwares, anyone else using RDX and having the latest update from this website installed? looks VERY fishy to me since overand-tandberg is formerly closed since January 2nd, 2025 (wikipedia source)

yeah that's exactly why i'm asking if anyone has some info, the whois seems off but it would be even possible that someone bought tandbergdata back, plus the offering of firmwares and everything on google drive is something strange too

The whois data shows it was created summer last year and valid for 12 months. In short, I wouldn't touch that site with a barge pole, especially if the company relies on that software to do business :old-eyeroll:

The domain you are checking has the Creation Date set for July 2025 so either the domain lapsed and someone (anyone, not necessarily the domain owner) re-registered it, or it is a brand new domain name. I've checked it in some Whois history tools which are not 100% reliable but they had no historical records for this domain prior to July 2025, so I am leaning towards the second option (this is a brand new domain name and not that someone bought it back).

 

Also looking at the company's Wiki page I see that tandbergdata-stor.com domain was added there only about a month ago, and before that it was www.overlandtandberg.com which is currently expired and non-functional. Seems like these things are still being sold and serviced but I am not sure how to approach this. Honestly I have 0% idea of what products are we even talking about I just know stuff about domain business 😄
