Phone Link: built-in into Windows. Others here have suggested this but note that it requires an online account. I also don't have much experience with it.

What online account?

The power wires for the USB 2 ports might be thinner and causing more voltage loss than the ones that go to the USB 3 ports, yeah.

I am going to try back panel USB 2.0 ports next time.

I do use phone link.
PC is connected to the internet via power line and phone is on Wi-Fi.
As long as you are on the same network, it should work.

What power line?

Easy to give you link then to explain.

Microsoft account. I should've said that instead.

Some users, like me, don't like the idea of having an online Microsoft account when using Windows. We like everything to be on local hardware. However if you already have one, Phone Link should simple enough though I haven't tested it. From experience I know LocalSend is pretty reliable.

Exactly never had an issue with this... Send --> receive --> done and done, thank you ma'am!

Or with a cable: copy --> paste, even better!

@testcy

Might be a mobo/bios issue, is the mobo on newest bios?

PS: also do not use the front panel usb ports, they suck!

Don't know about that. When managing a lot of data it's really slow to load everything. Also like I stated earlier...

Connecting physically has also proven to be a little finicky, so here's a few tips from my experience:

  • If you're going to move/copy folders, first navigate into it, let the files fully load, go back and only then move/copy it. Otherwise you'll just get an empty folder.
  • Leave the device window open, especially if you want to cut/copy/paste

Using a cable can be more reliable in some cases.

The back panel USB2 ports work fine. The front panel USB2 ports also work fine when using a bracket. The motherboard bios is the latest. I do not want to try phone link if it requires a Windows online account. So, it does seem to be a wiring problem of the front panel of the case or a charging/transferring problem. Still, I find it strange that memory sticks also work fine. I did have problems with front panel USB2 ports in the past, but either they were working or not working.

Yeah exactly... On some cases they work on some only occasionally.... Sure might be a wiring problem...

I'd just use that bracket (?). Or the back ports (as I do)

Front ports only work for (some) controllers and one specific USB drive... (but only the left one lol)  🤷

Spoiler

None of that was ever a problem on my old inwin case which was *much* higher build quality than my current fractal, not saying it's not a good case, but material wise they definitely cut corners which is a bit ridiculous for asking price tbh

PS: I had a nzxt case once, front usb worked for one day... after a week the *power button* stopped working... hence I didn't have that for long... worst china throwaway trash ever 😭

(got a full refund from proshop or wherever I bought it)

"3.0" my ass, it should be "0.1" 🤣
