Budget (including currency): Less than $1,000 USD

Country: USA

Games/programs/workloads: Gaming (1440p), Music Production (Reaper, Pro Tools), and Streaming

Other details: Current PC is a Ryzen 5 5600X, 32 GB of 3600MHz DDR4 RAM, 850W power supply, and previously had a Radeon RX 6800 XT.

Hello,

I'm looking to upgrade my GPU. I recently sold my RX 6800 XT due to frequent crashing and general dissatisfaction. I'm strongly considering an RTX 5070 Ti, but I'm also looking at a RTX 5070 or RTX 5060 Ti.

I'm also wondering if I should upgrade my CPU. I'd like to stay on the AM4 platform if possible, since moving to AM5 or Intel (new CPU, motherboard, and DDR5 RAM) is very expensive right now. Does upgrading to a higher-end AM4 CPU (like a 5800X3D or 5700X3D) still make sense with my GPU upgrade?

For 1440p, the Ryzen 5600x is plenty when paired with a 5070 Ti.
You might see a bit higher frames with a 5700X3D and better 1% and 0.1% lows but the increase wouldn't ''change your world''

Get the best GPU you can afford and feel comfortable spending money on.

yeah, stick with NVIDIA (Either of the 2) cuz productivity benefits and encoding and cuda, all of those stuff. Sell your 5600x and buy a 2nd hand 5700x3d.

Even though this kinda depends on your region, personally, I would upgrade your CPU to a 5800X3D and Get a 9070XT as the 9070XT hasn’t exploded in price, but seeing your previous experience with AMD GPUs, I’m not 100% sure you would like to go that route. But if you don’t mind, then get a 9070XT, if you do need or want nvidia though, get a 5070. 100% upgrade your CPU though, it fits your budget
