Basically what the title says.  It's pretty irregular and unpredictable, some days it doesn't happen at all, but I've had the official Steam Deck dock basically since launch.  Every now and then, especially on longer weekend gaming sessions, usually an hour or so in, I'll be playing a game and the dock will just blink out like it has been reset.  The display and audio will switch back to the Deck itself for a moment, then it'll switch back to the TV and all will be well.

I "think" it might be related to the fact that the official charger only supplies 45 watts, which the Steam Deck itself is fully capable of absorbing.  So what happens if you've got maybe a wired controller, a wireless headset dongle or other accessories attached when the Steam Deck wants its full 45 watts?  I'm assuming the charger would be built with "some" amount of overhead, but when charging my battery bank it seemed to cap out at 45 watts, so I'm thinking it's possible that the stock charger can undervolt the dock under certain conditions, causing it to reset.  I just got a 65 watt charger in the mail I'm going to experiment with over the next couple days, but I was wondering if any of y'all have had this issue and have any other ideas or input?

The behavior would be consistent with the power adapter coming short on power output. So yes, your test should be a good way to tell if this helps or not.

Do the dock have a free USB port ? You can always plug a small usb light in a port on the dock and you'll see if the light comes off when the dock resets.

Good luck !
