I've got an H510i case which apparently is dogshit, a 5800x3d on top of that and 4070 ti super seem to exacerbate that. Over the months playing AAA at 1440p for example or Bf6 i'll be at 90c with the cpu, the gpu hovering roughly the same.

Before 1440p I thought the 5800x3d needed a better cooler yet at 1080p I also had lower temperatures, now it's always going to be 86-95c with both gpu and cpu. It must be the case itself, the noise to me is the biggest issue but of course if you lower the rpm then the temperatures get worse.

What cooler are you using on the 5800X3D?

Does the temperatures drop quite a bit if you remove the side panel?

The front of the H510i is very limited in its airflow, only allowing slight airflow from the side and bottom... Its quite shit.

Do you have any front fans on the case at all?

You could undervolt the GPU and pbo/CO the CPU.

Or were you just venting? You didn't ask any questions.

What @Levent said about the side panel.

Or

DIY proper air holes at proper place (hint: front).

With some bit of DIY skill you could also DIY a custom side panel with airholes, even a clear side panel.

Example :

Just.... dont do it while everything is installed in the case like that, that's just asking for trouble unless you really really know what you're doin'.

There is approximately 99% chance I edited my post

  • 1 month later...

The issue with the CPU went away with getting the Thermaltake Peerless Assassin. However Afterburner with my GPU simply does not work,  3000rpm is real bad. I've gone ahead with DDU did not help, playing games is quite unbearable with this jet engine noise.

I have come to find out that GPU Hotspot is 110c however, the model is INNO3D GEFORCE RTX™ 4070 TI SUPER TWIN X2... which is just fantastic, i bought the GPU a year ago though so how could it possibly be that, it was new too.

Okay so the saga finally comes to an end. I open up the GPU, and reapply thermal paste... seems better, but then i still get 105c hot spot. Then I turn up the GPU fans to be auto, that fixes it, then i change it have it be at like 1800rpm when its like 70-80c that's good now I have a delta about 8-12c usually, which is fine.

That circles back now to the root of all these problems, the case is just garbage, it cannot handle this combo effortlessly, 5800x3d with a Thermaltake Peerless Assassin + this tiny Inno3D 4070 Ti Super are basically a combination that unless you want some noise is not going to work in this piece of shit NZXT case.  I suppose if it had 3 fans it would be better...

The thermal paste before was obviously the issue, it was at 3500rpm or something and still just stayed at 110c, now it goes to like 70-90c hotspot which I'm all good with so mission successful. Undervolting though may bring me yet more benefits.

tl;dr: Small cpu coolers like Deepcool AG400 cannot handle a 5800x3d, not in any meaningful sense, not when gaming, or even doing anything else. The NZXT H510i is a piece of shit. And that Inno3D is also a piece of shit brand that uses cheap ass thermal paste.
