if you play counter strike 2 you should absolutely move from 60/75Hz panel to at least 144Hz
it makes a huge difference

I think i'm changing cpu to 5950x, and mobo to MSI B550-A Pro v1, any thoughts?

Budget (including currency): 400$ - 900$ US

Country: us

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: gaming, streaming, video editing, etc.   Will be attempting to run mainly linux.

Other details

if possible please provide multiple options within the price range, i'm hoping to keep the budget to 600/700 tops {SixSeven}

wouldn't mind something that can overclock, if that isn't a huge price increase.   I'm thinking 16gb ddr4, i can just get another 16gb when prices go down.  Although, if there's 32gb for around 150$ i'd probably consider it. Need a psu that can support a 1080ti along with all other components, something a bit more powerful than i currently need seems wise, in case of further upgrades.

mostly looking for better performance in CS2, adding a slot or two for SSD's, support for the faster {6gbps? not sure on this, i just know my motherboard doesn't support the speeds of some of my hard drives} hard drive/cables {SATA}.  Would also like something that still has a vga port for my second monitor, if possible.

upgrading from Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 6.0 mobo and amd FX 6300 {don't think i've done any driver updates or config, machine came prebuilt.  thiiink i've only upgraded the cpu-fan and graphics card}

case: xpredator x1 from cybertron

graphics card: 1080ti

ram: 16gb in two sticks,  ddr3

monitors: hdmi samsung tv and vga sony monitor

power supply: power man, model number ip-s450cq2-0 h g {450w}

cpu-fan: noctua NH-U12A

peripherals: cd/dvd drive, need at least 6 usb ports in the mobo, audio ports, the old mouse and keyboard plugs are nice if possible, two sata hard drives, have at least 3 fans - not including cpu fan mentioned above, vga port

happy with 1080p resolution, although might upgrade to a monitor with 120hz at some point

take your pick ,
also it may be good to make a transition and go for 1440p monitor , it will be more demanding on your old graphics card
but after you will upgrade your GPU you will already have sufficient display to make use of a more powerful video card .

I'd save $30 and grab the 5700X, not losing much at all by not going 5800.

The 5800Xt is on promo right now for $209, so grab that if can.  Otherwise grab 5700X.

5800xt has a higher boost clock by default (if one doesn´t want to set OC profiles in the bios)
i owned 5700x and its default all core boost without PBO was only like 4,1 GHz under load ,
with PBO active it boosted to 4,6GHz on all cores
5800xt can do 4,8GHz all cores with PBO activated)
but otherwise yeah 5700x is a solid cpu and few hundred MHz is not that big of a deal .

hmmm any other mobo options with less rbg/ai junk and more usb ports etc?    can you at least turn off the ai "features" on the b550 f?

Also just checking that it has connections for 2usb, headphones and mic lines on the case?  case also has fan control but that's never done anything, as far as i can tell
