It been like that for idk 4 years or so now. They also go offline regularly for a decent chunky of time for maintenance aka rebooting them basically :p. There are waves of it being good and bad. Probably currently a bad wave and they need a maintenance period again.

 

Try wired too but usually doesnt help much. Destiny one has been on life support since 2017 ish so dont expect too much from it honestly.

 

Hard to give reports but the reddit has these waves of "servers are shit again" to "servers are ok for now hop on if you wanna play"

and now, im too scared to get back on again cause I fear I will lose progress again
