You should enable its system specs in your post so we know what hardware you've got. 😉

But in general, just enable the automatic memory overclocking (XMP or EXPO). In my experience, playing around with too much stuff just causes headaches unless you know what you're doing.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

I just finished building my first pc. What should I enable or disable to get the most out of my hardware?

Congratulations. I too built for the first time recently and from the top of my head can recommend following steps:

1) Important: Get the newest BIOS version from your mobo's support page to make sure that everything is fully supported. Also before installing it make sure to do some quick google search to be sure that it won't brick anything as such things like to happen from time to time.

2) Enable ReBAR: You didn't specify any specs, but looking at the picture, you got a modern GPU, which should fully support it. It should be located in the Advanced section of the BIOS. The should is in bold for a reason as it will depend on your motherboard manufacturer and model so again google will help you :).

3) Depending on your CPU enable XMP (Intel CPU and supported RAM) or EXPO (AMD CPU and supported RAM). In my BIOS (I have an X870e Carbon WIFI by MSI) it shows in the main page of the BIOS.

4) If you have an AMD CPU you can enable PBO (but I didn't do that to my 9950X3D and it's fine). Also depends on the CPU, and as for Intel I don't know if they support such thing.

5) More of a nice thing than a necessary one - google "how to enable usb charging when the pc is off on your motherboard name". It is nice to have that if you have BT keyboard or wireless mouse (or just want to charge your phone).

Good luck with the setup and have fun with the rig!

No problem, it's just a nice thing to include your specs in the posts so that the people answering will know what to work with.

1) There was a BIOS update quite recently for it (last month), but I couldn't find any info if it breaks anything, so you have to do your own research. Also they stated there that you can't roll back to previous versions with that one (even though your board supports BIOS flash), so be cautious.

2) Yeah, the GPU and mobo do indeed support ReBAR as you can see here and on the GPU's page - upon searching Reddit I've seen some comments saying that people come across stuttering when it's enabled on this GPU and they also suggested disabling Smart Access Memory (SAM), but I can't prove it as I have an entirely different build (the aforementioned mobo + a 5070 Ti). So you'll have to check it on your own system.

3) Your CPU supports EXPO as does the RAM (which for my eye seems to be Kingston's Fury Beast DDR5 kit). I can tell you what I was recommended by some user here when building my computer - the 9000 series Ryzen CPUs really like 6000 MT/s cl30 DDR5 RAM (despite AMD recommending 5600 MT/s), so as far as you don't stretch it that much more you should be a-okay. Just choose the preset option of EXPO 1 and you should see some minor improvements in terms of the overall speed of the rig (a couple of free FPS in games basically). Also don't be afraid, but the system will take some more time than usual to reboot after setting EXPO on - it has to retrain the RAM. Then upon each boot it technically takes a bit longer to get into the OS, but frankly I can't feel the difference with on vs off (mine needs about 19.4-19.7s according to Task Manager with EXPO 1 on).

4) 9600X also supports PBO, but I don't have experience with it or the CPU so you'll need someone else's advice if you're wishing to set it up properly.

Enjoy your improvements :-)

Also I'd like to remind you that I have no formal education in computer things so all of my knowledge comes either from the internet or from the guys here xD. Nonetheless, I am fairly confident that my advice will be somewhat helpful.

Thanks I’ve enabled EXPO and done a bios update, ReBar was already enabled and it seems to run awesome running every single game at 120+ fps at high settings.

Nice. Those are some impressive FPS. I'm glad that it works as good as it does. It really is a great feeling having such a machine, isn't it? Have a good day 🙂
