Mini-LED vs OLED

I want to know which is better for my use case. i mainly game and wanted to buy 4k oled monitor because i heard they look awesome and the colors are amazing but i am afraid of the burn in + they are very expensive. Mini-LEDS from what i heard dont look much worse and no risk of burn in and are much cheaper.

I have had my fair share of Mini-LED experience so far. Had two Mini-LED PC monitors and set up a few TCL Mini-LED TVs for friends and familiy. 

One thing I can say is that if you have a room with much natural light, then a Mini-LED is amazing because you high brightness and contrast is still okay. But as soon as the light drops and you begin to really make use of shadows in what you see, you will then notice the bloom and when you first have noticed it, you can never unsee it. It is not pleasent. That said, I own the G95NC and I do love it. But I tend to stay away from HDR because of the bloom, most games don't provide good HDR tweak settings. This would not be a problem with OLED though.

I also started a similar discussion as I can't decide between a fair Mini LED monitor or a the cheapest possible OLED I can buy that's 1/3 more expensive. 

 

Monitors Unboxed, the one @Eigenvektor already mentioned puts my worries for burn in aside. 

 

It's all down to the content you plan to consume and how much work you'll do. I've got programming be a potential, game dev and video editing. 

 

The one thing that put brakes on me getting OLED was a video comparison between a BenQ 4K Mini LED I was looking at VS OLED and the dude mentioning brightness between the two side by side, saying the Mini LED next to OLED made it look like the brightness of the OLED was broken and in the comparison had to limit the Mini LED's to 50% because his camera could capture both in quality at the same time. Mainly because OLED's have lower all screen brightness by comparison yet look impressive because the contrast ratio is infinite which is why they look as sharp as they do, our eyes really pick up contrast.

 

TLDR: If you plan to play games in a really bright room where the sun's blaring in like mine, Mini LED might be good as its own brightness will keep up with how much brighter your own room just got.

Really OLED the way to go especially now it got cheaper and ton of options. The MiniLED monitors have always been very expensive for what they are, still are and really I only ever looked at top tier ones as worth it. But then you got to OLED price anyway. Yeah I guess if you are mainly in very bright room then.
