In specific I’m working on an Acer Preadator Helios Neo 16s AI but in my mind, this shouldn’t be vendor specific.

This laptop has a handful of… features that I’d like to modify and I’ve exhausted what I can think of to search.

Firstly, it has a 4 zone RGB keyboard which is fine - though I prefer a single solid color if I don’t have individual keys addressable - I use the Predator software or open RGB to change the colors based one what “mode” the laptop is in – more on that in a minute - but when I first boot it up, whether it be from sleep, from hibernate or from power off, it does full speed full brightness rainbow scrolling, it stays on that mode until I log in and I’d love to somehow change the default but nothing I set in software changes it when the software isn’t running.  This feels like a hard-coded default. If I don’t’ have software running that’s the mode it’s on. I have the option to turn keyboard lighting off entirely in BIOS but I’m wondering if anyone has ideas or experience in changing the default?

Secondly the lid. Both of the last laptops iv’e had, an MSI something or other and a Lenovo Legion would power UP when I opened the lid. I’d love to have this behavior on the acer. If I open the lid, I’d like to use the computer, so it being on would be beneficial. I can configure the closing the lid options in Windows but I’ve not seen anything for what to do when the lid opens.

Lastly this has 3 odd dedicated buttons. It’s got a keyboard button for power, a button where numlock normally is that does nothing except open the Predator app and one in the speaker grille to change the performance mode. I’d love if I could reconfigure those. Truthfully I’d rather the mode button be the power button and maybe the power be mode or something Idk Id just like to modify the behaviors somehow. Oh and if I could disable or remap the integrated co-pilot button that’d also be pretty nice.

It’s not a bad machine it just has… quirks that I’d love to be able to get rid of or modify and maybe the answer is “you cant,” I know gaming laptops are known for quirky behavious. But this seems like a utility that should exist someplace? I’m far from the first person to not like the default behavior of keyboard binds and the like.
