4 x SATA 6Gb/s connectors

RAID 0, RAID 1, and RAID 10 support for NVMe SSD storage devices RAID 0, RAID 1, and RAID 10 support for SATA storage devices

Current Storage: Gigabyte AORUS NVMe Gen4 M.2 1TB Seagate ST2000DM008 Barracuda 2TB 3.5´ SATA III

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X 12-Core Processor, 4701 Mhz, 12 Core(s), 24 Logical Processor(s)

I'm looking to upgrade storage and purchased (1 - Crucial T705 PCIe Gen5 NVMe 4TB SSD) and (2 - Samsung 990 PRO SSD 4TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 SSD's) on black Friday deals, bought the Crucial first then saw the Samsung's and said "why not" as my gf wants more storage as well. I want to clone the Gigabyte drive to the Crucial drive as it contains the OS and install in slot1, I then want to install 1 of the Samsung drives in slot2. I have swapped parts before and did a semi rebuild (new MB,CPU,RAM,AIO Cooler, power supply. Swapped storage, no optimization or anything) so I'm comfortable doing the swap. I just want a second opinion with my thinking, slot1 can handle a PCIe 5 so use the Crucial. Slot2 is limited to PCIe 4 so use the Samsung, which I'm not worried about cloning as its just games. I've Googled a bit but not extensively as I have no problems asking for help to get things right and I'm sure I made the right purchases based off of the data I had. I purchased what I did based of the MB specs and my understanding of what it all meant. Comments/concerns/info/help is appreciated, kinda a nube of PC building but we all start somewhere (yes I could go to bestbuy/geeksquad/computer repair shop, but wheres the fun in that???) If anyone needs more specs or info lemme know, happy to provide.

I quoted the parts that I think are important, before answering, because I found it hard to read your post.

My opinion is that there's nothing wrong with your plan and for maximum speed it makes the most sense to use the CPU connected slots first and put the Crucial PCI-E 5.0 drive in the 5.0 slot.

But, I personally wouldn't bother with the cloning process and I'd just leave your OS drive on the Gigabyte Aorus, except I'd move it to another slot.

The amount of perceivable increase in perf by switching from Gen4 to a Gen 5  in casual use is imperceptible.

So feel free to pick whichever route, be it cloning or keeping the Gigabyte.

Generally yeah, you want to keep the Gen5 drive on a Gen5 slot, and so on.

There is approximately 99% chance I edited my post
