Right, in the past I mentioned that my second older 19'' monitor will not run at it's native resolution on anything but the onboard, so I said fuck it, I'll try a custom resolution, previously this has not worked at all. But today I decided to try again to give myself more "real estate". Forcing it from 1280 x 1024 to 1600 x 1200 (It's actual native resolution) causes black barring for some odd reason, but when I force it into 1920 x 1536 there is no black barring and the entire screen is usable. Another weird note is that the monitor is running off a Dual-link DVI (I don't even know why it has it) even with that it won't go native through the GPU so 1920 x 1536 works perfectly. 1.5 x (1280 x 1024). Will this be harmful in any way to the panel? It sits beside my 1440p U2713HM. (NOTE: THE CURRENT BLACK BARRING IS FROM MY WALLPAPER, it is not linked to the first half of the post regarding the barring.

That's downsampling. Their is a risk of course but realistically I doubt it will damage your monitor. Linus made a video about this actually.

I watched the video a while back and even so, if it dies it'll give me a reason to buy another second monitor as this one is years old.
