So, some time ago I decided to switch from Windows 10 to 11, but since my PC's performance was so bad there, I decided to go back to 10.

Now in 10, I notice that it has improved, but it doesn't seem to be the same.

In games like Counter-Strike 2 and Rainbow Six Siege X, the performance is excellent, but if it comes to Final Fantasy XVI, the performance is much worse. It's a very demanding game, I know, but before switching to Windows 11, I played the game on High, almost Ultra, and now even on Low I have FPS drops...

The same thing happens in a heavy Minecraft Java Edition modpack.

I honestly don't know what could be causing this. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers with DDU.

I also tried overclocking manually and through the NVIDIA app, but I noticed almost no difference.

And I've also checked if everything is up to date.

What do you guys think could be causing this?

Thank you!

If the issues are only with these two games, it might be due to issues within both of those games.

With the Minecraft Java, I've often found that you really need to lock down the framerate and cap it as the game is prone to stuttering, the game is incredibly CPU heavy if you leave the FPS unlocked, and it isn't ideal for stable frametimes. You might also want to check if the modpack has allocated enough RAM, although I'm not sure if that is an automated process or needs to be done manually.

And if the issue occurs with FF16, it's likely the game being FF16 :

The game is very, very, very CPU and GPU heavy at points and can be vastly different, especially when the game opens up a bit later on. I would try and use the optimised settings suggested in this video, as the game's early areas are a bit misleading for performance targets. I would say the heaviest the game gets is towards the beginning in the forest are just after the title card drop in the game.

The games you're having issues with are fairly cpu intensive so the cause may be related.

Are your chipset drivers up to date? Is your RAM running with the XMP profile enabled in the BIOS settings?

Are you using chipset drivers from automatic Windows updates or from AMD's website?
If you haven't already, try the installer from AMD. https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads/drivers.html/chipsets/am4/b550.html

Have you verified that the RAM is actually running at 3200 MT/s?

Are you using custom JVM arguments and allocating more RAM for Minecraft?

Is Resizable BAR enabled in the BIOS settings? Check to see if VRAM usage is maxed out when running FF16. It may be worth trying an FPS cap for FF16 to see if that helps.

Windows 11 vs 10 has nothing to do with your performance.

Something else is wrong, if anything

What I'm thinking... maybe they didn't install the same exact version than the old one, because there *are* huge difference between the gazillion of windows 10 versions... (Personally I really liked anniversary edition best , still have it installed on an older amd laptop too...)

But either way 1809 performed by far the best for me (still have that too as a "backup")
