First a bit of a context story:

So, 5 years ago I was using a Gigabyte GV-N95TOC-1GH graphics card and a 1366x768 monitor. After three years, I upgraded my PC with a GeForce GT 240 which is still preforming very good (with a small problem) and a 1920x1080 monitor. With my new graphics card (GT 240) I was able to run both of my monitors. It was running smoothly, even when playing games, I was able to watch Youtube videos on my second, smaller monitor. About a month ago, my PC went nuts and was beeping and all that, so after a in-depth (4 hours long) diagnostics, I found out that the problem was with my graphics card, when I had both of my monitors connected via any of the connectors, I couldn't turn on my PC.

Now, I'm running a single monitor and it's driving me crazy (I'm used to having two screens). For the record, if I put the GT 240 problem aside, both of the graphics cards are good. So I was thinking, if I could connect my second graphics card (the old one) to have both screens connected at the same time?

Thanks for helping :)

PS: sorry for my bad english

Edit: I know this question is a bit dumb... But I would really like to know before I start testing it and break something.

You want to know if you can have both graphics card running at the same time? That depends on your motherboard and maybe your PSU, but 240 probably low tdp.

It's weird how you can't turn on your PC. Do you have your extended desktop set up right in your nvidia cp? Have you tried uninstalling the nvidia drivers and reinstalling the latest ones? Do both your screens work? and do all your ports on you graphics work?

Though I'm guessing your BIOS is faulty or something has changed.

For reference: When I was diagnosing (i don't know if i spelled it right) what was wrong, i removed each of my ram sticks (i have 1x1GB and 1x2GB sticks), i changed my PSU, tried to disconnect all my drives and start my system from another HDD with windows,I reset my BIOS, and all that failed, and when I was connecting everything back, after i changed my PSU and stuff, I don't know why, but I didn't connect my second monitor, the smaller one. And it worked. I pluged in my second moniter and all of the sudden, my PC didn't start.

Maybe I'm describing it wrong, my PC did power on, just nothing was on either of my displays, nothing was on display. Normally I have BIOS numbers and checks of HDDs and stuff. When I tried to turn my PC on, the motherboard started beeping a lot ( i learned that it was a code for error, I never did learn which one it was, I couldn't count so fast).

In my Nvidia control panel, I don't have it set up, but when I had both of my monitors connected, I did have it set up like that.

I have, since I disconnected my second monitor, tried to uninstall and re-install my drivers, I even tried an older version, but nothing worked... I suspect that something is wrong in my GPU, maybe some chip or capacitor.

On my current graphics card, all my ports work, I have it running on DVI (personal choice), sometimes I connect my HDMI to my TV to watch movies, that works too, and my VGA was connected to my smaller monitor, and I have tried it, when I was testing my GPU connections, when I found what the problem was. So everything is working on its own.

In your first sentance, you mention low tdp... what does that stand for?

But basicly, I'm asking if I can run both of my graphics cards at the same time, to have my extended functionality back :)
