Newegg coming to The Netherlands

Guest

Sorry it's Dutch, i couldn't find it in English

This is from Tweakers.net.

If you can't find it in English, just translate it mate!

Google Translate:

Newegg has announced the end of June to come to the Netherlands. During Computex 2014 The company specializes in the supply of computer equipment and software, and it is one of the largest online stores in the United States.

Besides Netherlands Newegg end sets this month foothold in five other countries: India, Ireland, New Zealand, Poland and Singapore. The store was already present in the U.S., Canada, UK and Australia. Newegg announced earlier to expand in Europe, country names were then not yet published. That the company at a roundtable session during Computex be done now.

Newegg will initially deliver from the U.S. to the new markets, but in the long term, the company is locally present, in order to meet local demand as CNet heard during the session at Computex. When coming to the UK Newegg detected automatically from that country who visited the site to UK customers to dish. An initially limited offer After choosing the desired currency Newegg determines automatically the VAT and other costs, such as postage.

The arrival of the big online computer retailer means more competition for the smaller computer shops in the Netherlands, and for larger shops like Media Markt, Bol.com and Wehkamp. The initial delivery from the U.S. means that the service can not compete on delivery times possible, but it can be appreciated that in the USA, the store known for some good deals. The store in the U.S. has some special products in its range, providing non-competitors.

Newegg specializes in computers and PC components, but also provides office products, consumer electronics, toys, tools and kitchen appliances to.

I'm really curious to see what "exclusive products" they'll offer. The market in europe is always behind on the North American market or sometimes never gets access to certain hardware at all.  *cough* razer blade *cough*... Maybe they'll find a way to break the geographical restrictions on some products?

Well it does make sense for them to start off slowly. Offering their full range of products probably won't happen right away, but it could lead the way for expansion in the future.

thing is, with the UK, if you ever wanted to buy anything from US or anywhere else, you probably would pay more, because you have to pay fuck tone of import costs. i got a T-shirt from valve for $20 (£12) and i had to pay £13 import costs when it came. for a laptop worth $1000, you have to pay $350 import cost. it almost never works out. this is why them having a store in the UK would make more sense, honestly i dunno anyone who would even consider ordering from newegg while living in the UK. what you said is right, moving slow is best to start of with, but i really dont think they're moving at all. especially how its very limited and the costs are crazy for import.

they could have opened 1 store in the capital first, a small store and then open more stores, that would have worked out better in the long term in my opinion

Well i am not hyped at all. Eu has so freagin huge taxes that i dont think they will make a major competition here in The Netherlands and there are enough online pc parts stores already, its a walk in stores that we miss.
