windows11 Windows 11 #3 Key problem

hey whats going on, im having a problem where it wont let me type the number 3... it increases the contrast it seems. I cant seem too find out what is causing this problem and its very annoying, any help i get is appreciated thank you.

yes only ENGLISH(USA)

Do you have access to another computer you can try that keyboard with?

Oof. It's hard to narrow the problem down between hardware vs software without a known working third component to test against.

 

If you have any utility software that lets you define custom key mapping, make sure that's turned off.

 

If there's somewhere in your BIOS that lets you type arbitrary text or numbers, see if the 3 key works there. (Pick something relatively safe, and don't save changes.) Rebooting into Safe Mode should also help rule out (or point a finger at) any third-party utilities you may be running.

It should be obvious to you that trying another keyboard is the super obvious obvious obvious first thing to try.

Does your keyboard have a function key for some reason that activates another layer on the keyboard?

What keyboard do you have?

so ive figured its software related because it has started to work before i sign in, but as soon as i do it stops working

Still not enough details, but a few things to try:
1.  Plug keyboard into a different USB.

2.  Uninstall and reinstall your keyboard drivers.

3.  Have you tried running Windows troubleshooter?  (Never seems to fix anything, for me, these days, but you never know -- there's always a first time!)

4.  You need to test it with another keyboard.  As you have no other keyboard to test with, your options appear limited, but can you at least check to see if it's behaving the same way when using the On-Screen Keyboard?
