Curious of the Apple users on this forum how many of you leverage the shortcuts functionality?

What do you use it for?

I want to make one that gives me a toggle for “unknown number filtering” if you know you are going to get a call for service or something.

Anyone willing to share some useful ones?

On a side note, I actually would love to see an LTT video on shortcuts and see what the team can cook up. I think this would be a fun video to see Linus introduced to it during his iphone challenge and explore the functions.

My ancient 12P can't be unlocked without three back taps, with a double shake at az45 in between the taps(140bpm, bricks the phone on 3 conseq fails). Otherwise, the shortcuts are worse than just 1-taping the actual app icon.

I have a shortcut to turn off my gaming PC, as I sometimes turn it on headless to remote into the terminal. It sends a request to a small HTTP server I wrote in C that runs in the computer, and that shuts it down.

Unfortunately, while the Shortcuts app is powerful, it can also be frustratingly limited.

A fun thing I played around with before are the automations. There's an option to run a shortcut when a specific NFC tag is used

🙂

That is pretty sick.

I wish it had a “record” function that would allow me to do something and it builds it with a trigger
