I really need help..

Okay, so when I press tab when playing TTT in GMOD, I have my FPS locked to 20... it stays like that forever until I rejoin... and If I don't ever press tab in game, I won't lag... I get 300+fps average without it...

I really am confused, I tried reinstalling GMOD and I'm going to try verifying game cache, but  Idoubt its that...

not that I know of, and I don't know how to set keybinds in GMOD. I might somehow have it set.

But anyway, if I press tab again it still does it, so It might not be a keybind, but worth a try, so I need you to tell me how to check it.

I changed my score check ubtton to this ` and it still does  the weird thing, while tab does nothing to affect FPS.

Open up the console and type "fps_max 300" without the quotes.

I recently tried that, doesn't work.. I guess i'll look in config file..how would I go about editing it in config?

I've used FRAPS to test it. but otherwise, I don't use fps counters.

If that didn't work, it can't be a keybind which brings up the issue...

 

And try turning off fraps and use "net_graph 1" in console to check fps

 

Just a suggestion, try running in windowed mode maybe?

Right click your GMOD in steam click Properties, then Local files then Verify Integrity of Game files, this resets your game settings and removes all addons and recreates any missing files

I did that. Nothing changed, but it came up with an error which I shall show in a second here...

It only has one file to validate in the verification...

I've done that. doesn't do anything.. trying again for shits and giggles...

Throw your hard drive or SSD out a window and buy a new one, then install a new copy of Windows and GMOD, jk. Press ~ left of 1 in GMOD and type in bind "/" "+score" and press enter. This changes the Scoreboard button to / and use that and see if it does the weird bug

I understand how to get to console, but I didn't get what you meant by that command, did you want me to type in

Okay, I did it, it worked.... and it did the FPS thing again.... IDK what the fck is wrong with my game

Well... Its only on one server out of 3 I have tried,  SADLY, its my favourite server.... why gmod? why? 

 

Oh well thanks for the help, I would try to investigate more, but in this case, enough is enough.

re install every source game you have.
I know it is a pain in the arse, but GMOD runs off of the resources from other source games. 
The issue might actually be from something like tf2 or half life or lfd.
Just delete them ALL and re install them one at a time.
