Hey,

I’m planning to do a long-overdue PC upgrade after few years of having it.

Budget: 25–30k CZK (≈ $1,000–1,200 / €1,020–1,220).

Current setup:

  • Ryzen 7 5700X

  • ASUS B450 Pro M2 Max

  • 16 GB DDR4 Kingston 2666 MHz

  • Cooler Master 650W Gold PSU

  • GTX 1660 Super

  • NZXT X63 AIO

  • NZXT H510i case

  • M.2 SATA SSD Kingston SA400M8240G + 3.5" HDD 2 TB WD Blue

  • 1x monitor 24" 1080p 165hz + 1x monitor 24" 60hz 1080p

I’m considering upgrading my GPU — ideally something up to 320–330 mm (I’d probably swap the case fans for slim 15 mm ones instead of 25 mm). I’ve been looking at the RTX 5070 or 5070 Ti, since I’ve got around 330 mm of clearance to work with (the water block and fans are about 50 mm thick). My main concern is whether power delivery or thermals could become an issue with my current setup.

Any advice on what to replace or improve would be super appreciated. I also plan to move to AM5 eventually, but for now, 8 cores / 16 threads are totally fine for what I do.

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:

I mostly play FPS (CS2,PUGB) and single-player games like Dying Light: The Beast, Cyberpunk 2077 and Borderlands 4. I also do some light video editing in After Effects and Adobe Premiere.

Country: Czech Republic

Other details: I’m currently gaming on a 1080p 165Hz monitor, but I’m planning to upgrade to 1440p in the near future.

A good 650 watt PSU can handle a 5070. A 5070 Ti is a bigger challenge and below the recommended wattage, but still doable.

If you're really concerned the PSU is borderline, you could step down to a 5060 Ti 16GB, which shaves around 40-50 watts from the 5070:

Note that the Super versions are due next year, which are believed to upgrade the VRAM on the 5070/5070 Ti.

Thermals: what fans do you have at the moment? Most coolers are overbuilt and not that hard to get manageable temps, even with limited airflow, but it does depend on the model.

I agree, that would be optimal for you, whilst still being a huge upgrade and being safe without needing a new psu.

I currently have 2x 140mmfans (intake) 2x 120mm (out), in my case nzxt h510i is very limited intake airflow.

By thermals i meant this intake on photo is the only input of air in the case
