Hey,

so I have my server in the office room but the Wifi is not great into the living room so i am wanting to put some cables through the wall which in itself should be fine. however I am limited on router slots. I was wondering is there a way to split a 2 port ethernet socket into 1 so effectively I have 2 outputs in Living room that goes into the back of 2/3 in the office with 1 going into the router. at the same time I dont know if that messess up the Lan connection between them and I would be better getting a network port?

hope that makes sense but any help apprenticed

All you need is a cheap little Ethernet switch. Plug it into your router, then run all your other connections there.

Avoid making runs that terminate in random places, because that gets confusing and convoluted fast.

That's only at the router level. Simple, unmanaged layer 2 switches like this just pass everything through.
