Had a previous question asking a similar question, building first pc and gpu options, heard that there might be new nvidia cards out at the start of next year and there might be an announcement about new amd cards then so do i buy now or wait, if i wait do i buy a second hand card now or a new lower tier card now, if they do come out at the start of next year will probably not but straight away so this card i buy now will need to last at least 6-12 months. budget: no idea but not excessive under £400 with the ability to sell on later. current potential build: 9800x3d msi b850 edge ti 64gb ram will game at 1440p. dont really want any that use the 16 pin connector.thanks.

Same answer as before, don't overspend on your CPU and RAM, put that money towards a GPU instead. If you can make do with the CPUs iGPU, just use that in the interim. Nvidia's refresh is probably about more VRAM for their high-end GPUs, so unless you're in the market for that, likely not worth waiting.

What's that supposed to mean?

thanks for the reply, i meant more interested in what amd might announce as nvidia will presumably still use the 16 pin connector and i dont what that, i have the money for the gpu just got to decide to buy proper card now or wait and use a second hand or lower to mid tier card now and then sell it on later on and get a a higher tier card.

longer you can wait the more fps you get per dollar. but prices have been trending up so new stuff will be more then the older stuff was new. and you can wait forever...new stuff every 2 moths. new stuff may have driver problems and even recalls thow most hide that under the run these days.

I have dyslexia plz be kind to me. dont like my post dont read it or respond thx

Oh, you mean the power connector. I thought you were talking about PCIe x16.

Haven't seen any rumours about AMD possibly responding to super cards.

yeah i heard rumours they might be announced or mentioned start of next year but you never know. was originally going for 5070 ti but got put off by the 16 pin connector so sticking to the amd cards.

In that case, the closest competitor would be the 9070 XT

I know Nvidia Supers are supposed to be coming, but nothing about AMD launching new cards.

They aren't competing with anything higher than 5070 Ti, where the Supers are expected to land, so doubtful they'll do anything to respond.

Unless, maybe, the 5070 Ti Super happens to be price competitive with the 9070 XT. Which means it would have to replace the 5070 Ti non-Super, which seems unlikely. If you can wait, by all means do, but I wouldn't expect much.
