Can someone here summarize for me telegram? I used Skype for a long time and it went to Teams. Issue is most people I use to chat with on Skype no longer uses Teams. I know some people went to telegram and I have no clue about it. I just recalled years ago people mentioned telegram and it was like a chat app but I heard it was mostly people who do scams?

The thing is I want to use telegram since some people I know tell me they use that now.

1. Do people mainly use this on their phone or on their windows laptop? I always been a laptop person and not much of a phone person. I used to use Skype mainly on laptop but then started using it on laptop and phone. This seems similar to Whatsapp? I use whatsapp so I know how whatsapp works.

2. Do I just create an account and password and it's similar like Skype on my iphone? Do you need a phone number verification for it or can you use just an email? I read you have to use a phone number. So it can be a US number or US Google voice number or non US number? I have all of these so I can use any? either? Is one better than the other?

3. Are there any telegram groups similar to Skype groups? I know Skype had groups where max is 600 people in it. Does telegram have similar?

4. Any image or link someone on telegram sends you, can you get malware/virus on it? On a windows laptop for sure right? But on an iphone, can you?

5. Is there a reason why I read lot of people get banned or can't get into their telegram accounts later on or something like that?

Telegram has both mobile and PC apps, but it requires a mobile phone number to create an account

It needs to be a legit number from a legally purchased SIM-card. You can alse set up extra email verification and password authentication

Telegram has chats and forums with an unlimited amount of users. It also has channels, which is similar to blogs

Not necessarily, but there has been cases of people sending images that freeze and reboot iPhones due to bugs in the iOS. Those things are gone for now

You have to use an official phone app to register in Telegram, any other option (including Windows app sometimes) might result in an error. Also it is relatively easy to steal an account if it's not protected by password and has no email attached

WhatsApp, but made by a Russian techbro with offshores in Dubai, plus news, forums, streams, crypto, preminum subscriptions, blogs, games, custom stickers that one can make by themselves, and p*rn (censored on Apple products)
