I’ve been playing Red Dead Redemption 2 and comparing my benchmarks to other YouTubers with same specs. My memory RAM shows 13000MB-14000MB being used whilst playing.

These YouTubers seem to have memory ram 11500Mb-12500Mb whilst playing the same game. I don’t have much open, is this high RAM Usage or fine?

My Specs are

AMD Ryzen 7800X3D

32GB 6000Mhz CL30 memory RAM

RTX 5070Ti

The more ram you have, the more system uses. I who have 64gb se rather high usage compared to someone with 32gb system RAM.

Like my firefox alone can hog like 12gb of RAM sometimes if its allowed.

Its not until you start run out of ram the system starts using its pagefile.

Edit: Right now firefox uses 9.5gigs of RAM.

Unused RAM is wasted RAM. It's expected. Unless you're running into issues of extremely slow performance.

Performance is fine. I just thought ram usage should be lower (sorry I’m new to PC). I just seen YouTube videos with same specs as me using under 12500Mb haha.

YouTube videos don’t exactly make great comparison sources.

I've noticed that games eat as much VRAM as they can, I often see 16GB+ usage on my 7900xtx for games supposedly using much less

I mean DDR5 RAM not vram. (Computer ram)

Haha my bad

But it's kinda the same with RAM, I end up with 25GB reserved on 64, with nothing much running !

Yea I remember when I got a prebuilt 5-6 years ago and 16gb RAM was the thing. Now 32GB is the minimum haha

Fair enough then. I guess my system using 14gb of ram whilst playing rdr2 is still low considering I have 32GB. No issues then!

You may have similar specs to those videos, but you are not running the same programs as them. What do you have set to run on startup? What other bacground tasks are running? What windows updates do you have installed? No two PC's will have the same load/ram use unless you clone the drives.
