amd vs nvidia optimization

So recently I decided that I wanted to get a r9 270 since it is a bit better and cheaper than a gtx 660, but now after seeing what nvidia did with watch dogs and how they are now also doing the same with the crew, assassins creed, far cry 4, and I'm sure many other ubisoft games, I think it might be better to get a gtx 660. What would you guys go with? Thanks for the help!

I run my own indie game company called Color Dragon Studios where we are currently making a 2d platformer game called Small Earth.

Most of the time, a game being optimised for either AMD or Nvidia will only have a small performance benefit, which will then be fixed by drivers down the line. Ubisoft has just been doing some weird stuff recently and the performance issues with Watch Dogs seems to be because the game just isn't made too well, as people with Nvidia cards are having similar problems.

Yup Also Games that perform better day one on AMD or Nvidia means they have better drivers prepared for the game as they have been working with the game developers for a long time. But ususaly a week or two later the other vendor produces an on par driver. And then there is watchdogs thats just the fault of the developer tbh... 270! :D

Yeah, the 270 is great card and supports newest DirectX and Mantle. Overclocked, you can reach the performance of a 270X, which is almost equivalent to a regular 7950 (not the boost, but a regular one, and maybe not in watchdogs because you are missing VRAM, but that is the case for 660 also).
If you get the MSI version, it is almost dead silent....so I would take the 270 anyday.
