Budget (including currency): <500USD (Depending on what it is)

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: gaming and CAD, modeling, rendering.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Legolic/saved/VqdjJx

I'm playing through the playstation port games (spider-man, the last of us, Horizon, etc) and I am a bigtime java minecrafter. but aside from that its smaller indie games that run great on my steamdeck so im not even going to bother to list them here.

Im not too worried about peripherals. I tend to upgrade those when they break or just, as a separate things so im not factoring those in at all.

I plan to keep an eye out for a 5070 ti super with hopefully more vram (hoping and praying the stars align for me to get my hands on one that will fit and not be COMPLETELY overpriced) if its not too much more expensive ill snag it (max price will probably be around that 1000usd range but ideally alot less, I dont have to worry about what to do with my 5070ti itll find a good home

I am also considering a ups/aps. but a good one is expensive af and I am in denial about its importance (please placate me)

I havent run into issues with speed or capacity of my storage so I think what ive got will be just fine, if I run into anything ive been keeping an eye out for a 9100 pro to go on a really good sale but I may not even get it all things considered. what are some good higher capacity storage I can do? I like the set up of a 1tb boot drive and then a secondary m.2 and then a sata for big storage. so which do yall think should be replaced first? perhaps a 9100pro 1tb boot drive then move my sn850 to secondary? or just get a second sn850 (or comparable) when/if storage becomes an issue.

same thing with the ram, no issues but I want to keep an eye out for a good possible 2x24gb kit? maybe 6000mt/s cl28-32 but ram clearance is pretty big so im being particular about that. if yall have any recommendations for my workload please let me know.

i want to get a smaller psu for my own sanity, this was given to me but the cables are at some tight angles and it prevents any fans on the bottom of the case, so I plan to keep an eye out for one honestly id probably just get a sf1000 my understanding is higher efficiency and wattage means cooler so even tho 850 would be plenty I think the benefits of just rounding to 1000 are pretty reasonable and then efficiency is efficiency is efficiency. but if you guys have a better recommendation let me know.

the performance seems pretty good so far with all my testing but theres room to stuff more fans in there although fan costs rack up and I think some things (especially psu gotta get better first)

the big theme of this post is that im happy where im at but I intend to stay vigilant with deals and ways to get a little upgrade here and there. I am comfortable with some things used but not others. and im okay with stalking certain parts to hop on discounts. also I know black friday/cyber monday are on the horizon and I would ideally like to have a nice little list of things to see if they go on sale.

Your build looks solid to me. I'd just be enjoying it, rather than thinking about upgrades.

Maybe look at a next gen Ryzen X3D CPU in a year or two? In theory the Ryzen 7 10800X3D or 11800X3D or whatever number AMD gives it will be faster and actually have more cores than the 9800X3D, because Zen 6 is going to have 12 cores per CCD.

You're at the point that litle upgrades are going to cost you more money than they are worth.   Getting a 5070Ti Super and trying to sell your 5070Ti is going to be hundreds of dollars spent for 10% bump?  Of course if you NEED that VRAM....

But you're going to college, you said?  So much money to be spent other places.

I'd get another 2x16GB kit and see if it runs at EXPO.  If not, then look at new larger kits.  BIOS updates are providing much more stability for 4 sticks nowadays.

IMO, I'd stop focusing on the PC.  You don't need to "remain vigilant", it's just a computer.  Go enjoy college!

Looks like a recent enough system that shouldn't need any sort of upgrade for a good while yet.

Is there anything you're doing the system isn't capable of, or why do you feel the need to upgrade?

I dont feel the need to upgrade I just like optimizing and if checking amazon prices or pcpartpicker prices every so often can help me get a little better i dont mind checking and I enjoy optimizing.

yeah the 5070 ti super plan is definitely only going to actually happen if the stars align on price performance and availability which I dont expect it will but if it WERE to thats the only real upgrade I could see for a while.

that would also be dependent on me getting back what I paid for for the 5070 TI (returning it or selling at what I paid)

very good point about money spent elsewhere I think I just enjoy the hunt for a good deal so I figure I might as well keep an eye out for deals. "staying vigilant" was definitely overdramatic lol. I just check my amazon cart to see if that little price change pop up happens and occasionally look at facebook marketplace (something I already do)

you think the jump up from 5600 to 6000 would be worth it if not also upgrading the capacity? I dont expect to be using the extra gbs but I feel like it makes a bit more sense in having extra ram capacity given my use than some people who get 128gb kits for gaming.

I hadnt heard that zen 6 would be getting more cores, thank you for that, thats definitely something to consider now.

(avoid the small upgrades to save for a bigger one type of idea)

A new monitor. That Alienware is showing its age. With a system like you have you deserve something more modern. With the games you play, I think you'll really enjoy OLED and playing with HDR.

I moved from a similar Asus PG348Q ultrawide and it changed the game entirely for me.

A good set of earphones so you don't bother your roommates when you're playing games while they're trying to sleep or study is more important than anything else you can do.

thankfully I already have a baller set and for shits and giggles I use a logitech webcam as a mic (I am almost never on call but when I am ppl say the call quality is fine I just think its funny to use a webcam as a mic lol
