Budget (including currency): ~$3200 NZD

Country: New Zealand

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Games: 90% of the time, Cyberpunk 2077 and CK3. I also do some game dev on the side (I'd still rather gaming performance), as well as work from home on here (just browser stuff). I also want to play the new games that are coming out, at a decent framerate and resolution.

Other details

I posted here a bit ago, and have since tinkered around with my parts list. I want a big upgrade after having this one for quite a while now and not being able to play at the resolution and FPS I want.  I don't need any peripherals, so that does not matter. I play at 3440 x 1440, my monitor is 100hz.

I am pretty much locked in on the CPU, GPU, RAM and CPU Cooler (unless there is better for equal price). I really do not know much when it comes to motherboards or PSUs, so I am open to changing if there is a better option for the same price, though I would like to know why.

Also, the case I have picked comes with fans I think which is a bonus for me. I'd rather get a case for that money that comes with fans instead of without but cheaper.

I will be using my current SSDs in my new build, one of which has Windows on it. This means that I do need 2 M.2 slots. I also require WIFI.

Currently I have:

  • i5-12400f
  • RTX 3060 8GB
  • 16GB DDR4
  • 550W PSU
  • One 500GB NVMe SSD
  • One 2TB NVMe SSD
  • Cooler Master TD300 Mesh.

This is my planned build:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core Processor ($800 NZD)

  • Thermalright Phantom Spirit EVO 69 CFM CPU Cooler ($130 NZD)
  • ASRock B850M-X WiFi R2.0 Micro ATX AM5 Motherboard ($215 NZD)

  • Corsair Vengeance RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory ($230 NZD)
  • ASRock Taichi OC Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB Video Card ($1500 NZD) can be got on sale for around $1400
  • NZXT H5 Flow RGB (2023) ATX Mid Tower Case ($160 NZD)
  • Silverstone DA850R-GMA 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($200 NZD)

Total: ~ $3150 with GPU on sale, $3250 normally.

I plan on buying the case in the next few days, as they are going out of stock. Then after that I am likely saving up for a few months, and buying everything in one go.

It's ok, yet an mATX board will look a bit small in an ATX case

Also I can see 5070Tis for 1600NZD,  better deal than a 9070XT as 1500, and even at 1400 the 5070Ti is better value

Have no experience with Silverstone PSU, and tend to stick to highly rated ones like Corsair RMx, NZXT, Phanteks, LianLi

AMD R9  7950X3D CPU/ Asus ROG STRIX X670E-E board/ 2x32GB G-Skill Trident Z Neo 6000CL30 RAM ASUS TUF Gaming AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX OC Edition GPU/ Phanteks P600S case /  Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360 ARGB cooler/  2TB WD SN850 NVme + 2TB Crucial T500  NVme  + 4TB Toshiba X300 HDD / Corsair RM850x PSU/ Alienware AW3420DW 34" 120Hz 3440x1440p monitor / ASUS ROG AZOTH keyboard/ Logitech G PRO X Superlight mouse / Audeze Maxwell headphones

Any mATX case you recommend? Same price that comes with fans

I don't have the extra money for the 5070Ti though. As for the PSU, ill keep looking then.

There's the NZXT H3 Flow, smaller version of the H5
