Hello,

Recently I had my windows (actual irl) changed so I moved my desk, took my monitors away + keyboard and unplugged my smart plug to allow them to have access to change them. Afterwards, I moved it back and added everything back to my setup. I plugged everything back in and during boot up, I always had a dash that would hang on the screen for 2 seconds after showing me the bios screen after and booting into windows. Now this dash has been sitting for much longer around 10-12 seconds couldn't time it properly and is a small inconvenience. Boots up properly again but not sure why its taking longer now. Is they're anything I should try before updating the bios?

Typically this will show when the system is identifying which boot device has Windows. You can try going into your boot menu in bios and removing all boot options besides your Windows boot manager/boot drive(or moving your main boot drive to the top of the boot options if it's not already should also work). If it continues to load slowly, check if PXE boot is enabled, disable it if it is. If you have Windows installed on a mechanical HDD and not an SSD, or even if it's on an SSD, a longer boot time with this dash could mean the drive is taking longer to start loading Windows and could indicate the drive is worn out or failing. If it's a mechanical HDD I'd recommend replacing it with an SSD if it's an SSD I'd recommend testing the drive to see if it's running at it's proper speeds and make sure that the health is good on it.

Im pretty sure PXE is not enabled. Ive had the drive which is an ssd for around 1-2 years and is a 980 samsung (not pro). Possible ways to see if its going out? I have checked for updates on Samsung magician and did a check on it and had no bad sectors, but I will check speeds tomorrow! Yeah I think my windows drive is at the top of the list too.

Crystaldiskinfo will give you health status and Crystaldiskinfo will let you check the speeds. I think magician has a built in speed test as well irc.
