Help on coursework please

I need to cover the hardware and software needed for graphic production and im not too familiar with anything of this sort so can i have a quick summary and ill go into the deep intricacies myself Thanks.

Heres the hard ware i need to cover well the less basic ones:

GPU

CPU

RAM

And the software:

Vector graphics software 

Bitmap creation software

Photo manipulation software (im guessing Photoshop and Gimp)
