I recently put together a platform upgrade and am noticing my fans kick up quite a bit more frequently and quite a bit louder than my old system. My CPU temps seem to idle around 49*C and can get as high as 95*C when just downloading a game from Steam. As far as I remember I don't think they ever got that high on my old CPU but I could be mistaken. Is this cause for concern? I'm still pretty new to AM5 in general so i could be missing some idiosyncrasies that AM5 just runs hotter. All that being said, if i got a dud of a CPU or MOBO id like to get that return going soon so I can still be within my return window.

For the record I am noticing a substantial lift in overall performance in games but not as much in 1% lows.

OLD:

CPU - Ryzen 7 5800x

CPU Cooler - Noctua NHU-12s REDUX

GPU - Radeon 9070XT

MOBO - B550 Aorus Elite AX V2

RAM - Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB Kit 3600 CL 16

BOOT - WD SN850 2TB NVME

PSU - Corsair RM750

NEW:

CPU - Ryzen 5 7600x

CPU Cooler - Noctua NHU-12s REDUX

GPU - Radeon 9070XT

MOBO - Asus Prime B650+ WIFI

RAM - TEAM GROUP 2x16GB Kit 6000 CL 30

BOOT - WD SN850 2TB NVME

PSU - Corsair RM750

Yes, its normal for a Ryzen 7000/9000 CPU to reach 95c during 100% usage.

Downloading a game from steam also installs the game at the same time so it requires a lot of CPU power to do.

AM5 runs warm, they are actually designed to hit 95c before limiting clocks or power.

They are designed to sit at 95c and its fine 🙂

My 7700x and 9800X3D does it as well during heavy load.

You are getting full CPU performance until 95c and then it depends on your cooler so anything under this is max performance and also completely safe for the CPU.

You will most likely sit at 70-80c during heavy gaming.

Nothing is wrong with your CPU or Motherboard.  All good!

You can't compare AM5 to AM4 or any Intel CPU on the market, AM5 is very different.

Timed this GN Video where they go over this topic.

Yes, its a 7950x in the videos but same applies to the 7600x.

Dont be alarmed by the fire in the thumbnails 😛

Here is a video from JayzTwoCents where he goes over this as well.
