So I just got my Schiit Gunnr and when I connect it to my laptop running Linux Mint, I play a song on Qobuz, and Linux automatically outputs the audio on the song's high resolution (e.g. 24 bit 192kHz). When I plug it in to my PC running Windows 11, I have to go into sound settings and manually select the output resolution to match the song resolution. Is there any way to get the Linux behavior on Windows, where it just detects the source resolution and outputs at that resolution instead of me having to change it manually?

To my knowledge, no, but this is usually a non-issue. It’s meant to be set once and left there which is why it’s designed the way it is.

Would that cause the DAC to do some audio oversampling and is that a problem? Google says yes and no 😂

IME I just set the resolution to the highest supported in windows and it always operates at this file type.  I have used schiit products this way as well as topping and smsl.  I'm not a qobuz user though so this could be where the problem is.  Are you using an app from qobuz or the web browser?  If you want a simple solution to this use the web browser and it should automatically handle it for you once set correctly.

Audio go Brrrrrr
