Fair Phone 6

When will there be a Fair Phone 6 review soon or not till August? I don't know how Canada and review models may factor into their dynamic release schedule. For those who don't know it will be released in America in August.

Reviews likely depend on both the willingness to hand out units in advance as well as the schedule (Google's Pixel 10 event is August 20th, so that may pose challenges).

 

I can tell you right now that some of Fairphone's challenges from past years will persist here. The specs are modest (a Snadpragon 7s Gen 3 in particular), so it's not quite as future proof as they might claim. And then there's the question of support. Yes, the design makes DIY repair easier, but you shouldn't have to lean on that quite so much, especially as parts may be harder to get in North America.

I'm looking to find out a few specific things. Currently I have a pixel 8 Pro, but it's got a fingerprint sized spot of dead pixels and the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth won't scan for networks or stay on, so mother board AND screen need replacement which means the whole thing needs replacing.

 

So the Fair Phone. What's it like using in the US with e/os? I've heard reports that things like chatgpt and tap pay don't work, as well as location apps like Tile to track my daughter (3 year old) in case the worst should happen. I also can't tell if I'm actually able to get all the replacement parts Fair Phone offers while in the US. These are all very crucial aspects that I can't find reliable information on.
