Hello people,

I have at the moment a decent system and I wish to know what you think I should buy next. My budget is about £450 but I could go to about £600 but no more than that.

My current set up is: i5 3570k, Xigmatek CPU cooler, Asus P8Z77-V LX motherboard, Xigmatek 500w PSU, 8GB Corsair Vengance 1600MHz RAM, EVGA GTX 760 w/ ACX cooling SuperClocked, Zalman Z11 plus case, Plantronics Gamecom 780 headset, a microsoft keyboard, Roccat XTD mouse and a Sharp TV 21" 1080p for a monitor.

I am completely open to suggestions as to what I should get, I really have no idea apart from PSU upgrade at some point. If I was to get better headphones I would like some without a mic and then get an additional mic e.g. Mod Mic 4.0.

My computer uses are mainly gaming, sometimes running VMs, photoshop and in the future maybe Wolfram Mathematica.

Thanks for reading,

Jon

EDIT: storage is 1TB HDD

What's your storage like? If you don't have one already, grab a nice 500GB SSD.

A 250gb SSD is what you need. Then I'd get a better monitor. And then a better GPU.

I don't have an SSD, but I don't really think I need one; I never really notice windows or programs loading times (except Uplay!)

Thanks for the replies,

Jon

YOU NEED ONE! You just don't know it. Try one. You will never want to go back.

An SSD is the BEST upgrade you can make to a system. Even if it's just for a boot drive, it is so much faster.

Get a Titan Z  ;)

No, but really get a 780, corsair RM 550, Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, and a new monitor

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139053

Upgrade your audio at a later point and just use the headset you have now  :)

What size do you recommend for just OS and a few games/programs? Do you think it would be beneficial to get 2 in RAID 0?

EDIT: Is that PSU 80+ anything? If not, I'd get something like the Corsair CX650M.

Xigmatek psu to a Corsair CX ? The phrase 'out of the frying pan and into the fire' springs to mind  :D

Something by Superflower  would be a better choice.

Just get a 250gb for your OS and some games/programs and then if you decide you need more space just grab another 250gb or higher.

A 256GB is good for OS and a few programs. For more games and programs, 500GB is probably better.

And no, RAID 0 isn't really beneficial. The performance it adds is not worth the increased risk of losing all the data on the drives. If you get a 256GB one, then you can add another and RAID 0 them to get more room. You'll have to reinstall Windows and such though.

A non 80+ PSU to a trusted and proven 80+ bronze PSU seems like a good idea to me.

Yea, like I mean you don't have to get something balls to the walls expensive. Something like for example a cx600m would totally do you fine.

The corsair CX is the budget model though. You can do better for the same/similar money.

This for example is a better psu - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-014-SF&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=2057

GTX 780 sounds good but I'll blow most of budget on one thing.

250GB should suit you well. Also no don't it's pointless.

Sounds like 256GB is the way! Anything else you could suggest? I was thinking of a new case, the fans are going on the one I have but I may get it replaced under warrenty. Looking for a full-ultra tower but only about £100 on that.

That's at least £25 more than the CX model. A gold PSU from Seasonic would also be better than the CX series, but they're in a different price range. He has a budget, and there are plenty of other things he could upgrade by using the money he saves on the PSU.

The case isn't too much of an issue. It's not going to do much for you apart from giving you some more room and improving aesthetics. Spending the £100 on something like a better PSU or putting it towards the 780 will have a much bigger impact.

The Corsair 750d is $130 or like 80 pounds I think

I would still get the 780 over a new case though...

There is a £20 difference on Overclockers between the Corsair CX600M and the Superflower Leadex 650W. You can find it cheaper if you look around.

I would also take the non modular Superflower Golden Green over the Corsair CX.

I would probably as well but if I got a 780 I would definitely get a new PSU + I will probably wait until the new cards come out whenever that will be and get the top model then.
