Budget (including currency): Probably $500 max.

Country: United States.

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: A bunch of content creation stuff, mainly. DaVinci Resolve, Source Filmmaker, Audacity, some simple "AI" automation programs like OpenVINO and rembg, and some gaming. Would be nice to have ray-tracing support for some games in my library (like Portal RTX), but not ultimately a requirement.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): My existing parts list can be found on my profile, and should be accurate as of July 4th, 2025.

I'm looking to either get the latest AM4 parts, or upgrade to AM5, considering Prime Day is coming soon. My budget may actually be lower than $500, but I put that there in case stuff goes on sale for Prime Day. If I upgrade to AM5, I will probably just get the bare essentials, like a MOBO, CPU, and memory, since I don't have the money for further upgrades. I'm sticking with micro-ATX, since I like that form factor. I will NOT consider Intel or Nvidia - I'm solidly on Team Red, and I'd like to keep it that way.

Entry price for AM5 build begins with ~170$ CPU, ~130$ for Motherboard and ~90$ for DDR5 RAM, which totals @ ~400$

So if you're down with unplugging and changing half the PC, the budget holds up enough for that and a new cooler if needed.

How tall CPU cooler does your PC case support? This one is 157mm tall.

Here's my exact case (the logo has been updated, but the design is the exact same). https://www.deepcool.com/products/Cases/2021/11958.shtml

Hmmm, Gigabyte. I forgot to make mention that I'll probably not go with Gigabyte either, since I've read some bad things about their quality control (or lack thereof).

Overall, not bad lists, however I've noticed that each of these go over budget. That said, there's still a chance of them going on sale, so... thanks! 👍🏻

If you pair some of the alt. lists with cheaper motherboards below first list, they might be just barely clearing budget with better parts.
