so my buddy has a OptiPlex 3040 mini version, and he wants to do a little gaming on the little guy, but right now he has a AMD R r240, which is not the ideal for gaming, but I was wondering what's the best GPU that's meant for maybe repo and Fortnite, maybe even cyberpunk, but the big thing is our budget is 80 bucks, hope you guys can help with this little problem.

Do you mean SFF? Because the mini is very small, and the only way you shove a GPU in that is with weird external adapters and PSU. If it's the SFF you're looking for gtx 1650, RX 6400 and similar low power cards. Although keep in mind low profile versions can be expensive, though you might be able to run the full size versions but without the sidepanel attached. They will be able to run less demanding titles, not so sure about games like cyberpunk though.

You'll probably need to do an eGPU enclosure. The SDF version looks like it could fit a GPU with a riser, but the Mini surely can't without an eGPU.

Considering that the machine probably has an i5 6400 in it, you're going to run into CPU limitations in a game like Cyberpunk pretty hard. I think you'll want to keep expectations in check.

For low profile cards, your best bet might be the Quadro P1000, which I'm finding on eBay used for about $70 from a few sellers. It's basically a 4GB version of the GTX 1050. The only issue with it is that it only comes with mini Displayport outputs, so you'll probably need to also pick up a mini DP cable, but those aren't that expensive.

Another option would be the Quadro P620, which is a good bit cheaper at under $40, and not a ton slower, but only has 2GB of VRAM, which is really pushing it even for eSports titles in 2025.
