hi i recently bought a hp laptop a probook 445 g11 with the ryzen 5 , 32gb ram no touchscreen 300nits edition

i got it from a company that was selling out stock for a big discount

the laptop is very nice and all but

on the hp website of the laptop it shows the picture you can see on the right side

image.thumb.png.f88939c6840f71c1101151421aeb03bb.pngits dutch sorry for that but you can clearly see it saying 2x thunderbolt 4

with usb4 type-c

but it simply said doesn't have that

i am pretty sure that they are just usb c 3.2 gen2 ports

absolutely no where do they say that they just say the map gbps (they also trow gb/s and gbps around like its the same)

my main question is wtf is going on here this sounds just like false advertisement and why cant i find anyone else online talking about this

my other question is is it worth returning the laptop

i am still in my 30 day return period

the laptop is bought for school but the ram and cpu are better than my gaming pc

so if i could connect a egpu via thunderbolt 4 that would be realy cool

sadly i dont think i can get any better seeing that i got it like 200 euros cheaper than it costs new cuz the company was selling out stock

my budget is 700 euros if anyone knows a laptop that preforms about the same or better with thunderbolt 4 pls let me know

thx for any advice

sorry for any bad english its not my first language

I don't see anything on the HP website for this model about Thunderbolt.

https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-probook-445-g11-notebook-pc-customizable-8z9p4av-mb

Thunderbolt is an intel spec as well, so AMD would have to license it from Intel to use it. Wonder if you're looking at an intel version of the laptop potentially?

wow the us website is a lot different than the dutch website

there looks to be no intel version of the laptop

so probably just a mistake made at the dutch side of hp

i will call them Monday to ask about it

than the other question is is it worth getting a different laptop

i am pretty sure this is very good value for the hardware but i have not done the best of best research

Yea, looks like picture issue. If you go down to the Tech Specs or search the page, there is zero mention of Thunderbolt anywhere.

EDIT: i just spotted the link in your reply.. what the hell even is this webpage HP.. i'd say it's AI generated but AI generated would be better...

this is some intern's work that should have been peeling potatoes instead...

Looks like the Dutch distributor slapped that text on top of the original image... They've also put a disclaimer to check actual specs 🙄

That said unless you're looking at expensive docking stations it's unlikely you'll ever need Thunderbolt.

and it's an HP laptop, you'll have to buy HP's dock anyways, because they pull that BS where you can only charge trough HP's own docks.

i am somehow not surprised by this

it's not unique to HP though.. i dont have experience with USB-C docks on the dell side, but i know there are dell laptops that dont charge with a non-dell charger.

my new laptop is about the same price new but the cpu alone is 400% better

Hmm, I don't agree with this. I have had two seperate HP laptops now and they've worked with other docks very easily, though I couldn't get the first one to work on a Lenovo dock, but on my current i-tec dock, both have worked with no problems

that is not true, you can use any major dock that delivers 65W of power for that Notebook.

right when they started to make usb-C laptops, they did that, but i wouldnt be surprised if they got enough backlash from major partners to stop doing that.
