I built a new PC, all new parts, and it has never posted through the GPU; I've been troubleshooting for months.

RTX 5080

AMD Ryzen 9700 X

GIGABYTE X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI7

Skill Flair X5

Crucial P310 M.2 Drive

NZXT-C 1000 W

The computer posted through the integrated graphics after upgrading bios.  Before that it flashed codes about ram not working.  Now the VGA light is on.  The GPU worked in my friends machine.  I tried 2 motherboards both the same type with similar errors.  Tried different PCIE slots.  I have been using just 1 ram stick in slot 2 and tried multiple sticks.  I tried my old Radeon RX 7900 XT graphics card and switched the bios settings for second generations.  It just never does does anything through the GPU.  Fans spun initially on GPU but still never got video.  Now they don't spin.

Are you sure the card slot and power connectors (dreaded 12VHCrap) are properly seated ?

Didn't understand if the 7900XT works or not ?

And did you try the 5080 in another PC ??

I tried resetting the power and low and behold that was part of the problem.  Fans are now spinning as they should on the GPU. Still no post with the GPU though.  I just did the bios update on the new motherboard with the bios posted yesterday 6/20/2025.  It hangs with code 08 which is something about ram, but i've tried several ram sticks in slot 2, so one of them should have been good unless I'm astronomically unlucky.  You'll see in my first post gpu is tested and working.  I don't know how to test the CPU and PSU.  I don't have a second modern PC that I can swap parts from.

Looks like a RAM issue if BIOS version is compatible with your CPU

Well I'm open to suggestions but I've tried 4 different ram sticks.  Unless they're all incompatible it would be very bad luck if all 4 of them were bad.

In several slots ? Could be a bad slot as well...
