Help understanding Hot Spot temp, please!

Hello.

I would like to know if I should pay attention to the Hot Spot temp on my GPU. The reason I'm asking is because my hot spot temp is like 85C when my GPU is at 100% but the overall temp is just 70C. When it comes to setting a fan curve, I understand that MSI afterburner does not use the Hot Spot and many people on different forums say that, as long as it does not get to 100C or something extreme like that, everything is fine. Is that correct? Should hot spot be ignored as long as it does not go over the max temp of the card?

I always set my fan curve to reach 100% on 80C. Should I set it lower to keep hot spot temps lower?

70c on the core and 85c hotspot is perfectly acceptable for any GPU, these are actually pretty good temps!  

I like to keep hotspot under 95c personally but up to 100c is okay.

The Hotspot temperature represents the sensor that reports the highest temperature. For Nvidia cards, that's out of all the sensors on the GPU die, on AMD cards I heard that this can also include the memory. As long as it's not over 100°C or over 20°C above the average CPU Core temperature (for NVidia cards), it's totally fine. Your card looks perfectly fine with a delta of around 15°C. It's higher than what I'm used to but not out of the ordinary. My card usually has a 9°C delta between hotspot and Core temperature at idle. That delta rises to around 12°C under full load
