Good afternoon all,

I have been messing with Home Assistant recently and have aquired various pieces of hardware, I will be adding frigate shortly with the 10 cameras that are around my home, just need to order a Coral TPU. I will also be setting up opnsense and adguard once some networking bits arrive at the end of the month.

My question is, what hardware should I put what software on?

My current hardware:

Mini PC, Ryzen 7 5800h, 16gb Ram, 1tb SSD, single 1gb nic.    (currently a proxmox box)

Mini PC, Intel N100, 16gb Ram, 512gb SSD, dual 1gb nic.           (currently running HA bare metal)

SFF PC, Intel i5 8500, 16gb Ram, 256gb SSD, Single 1gb nic (have 2 spare pci slots to add faster nic/other hardware)       (purchased for OPNsense, but haven't touched it yet)

Custom PC, Intel i3 10105, 16gb Ram, 512gb SSD, 20tb Mech HDD's, running windows          (currently running windows 11, network share of HDD's and running emby, torrents and planned omada software controller)

I also have an AMD Ryzen 5600x Gaming PC, this will remain as is.

I have 1gb internet connection, I have looked at 2.5gb internal network, but its prohibitiveley expensive. I also only have the custom emby media server and the gaming PC that would benefit from it.

Any questions can be fired my way, I'm just looking for further opinions.

Many thanks.

Put everything on the 5800h and call it good. Or the i3. Or the i5. Hell the n100 can do it too. Youd be surprised how little hardware is needed for your usecase.

Everything you have running now can easily run on the single 5800h. Id just have a nice live backup to another system and done.

As the N100 has dual NIC's, it's an obvious choice to run OPNsense and Adguard on it. The 10105 system can be upgraded to a full NAS box using ProxMox running VM's for other services.
