I don't think this is the most high tech solution but have you used any PC cleaning software? I had a similar issue and I used CCleaner and it cleared a good chunk of crap off my ssd for me. I was still tight on space afterwards but it definitely helped. I know there are more in-depth ways you can do it yourself but i personally just never bothered and just used a tool like CCleaner.

Also you might have already done this but a little trick that helps me is going to the apps section in the windows settings and sorting by largest to smallest and seeing if any of the apps installed are using more storage than they should. For me personally I found that Spotify and Clipchamp were using a combined 35gb of storage on my ssd due to assets from videos I had edited still being stored within Clipchamp and a ton of downloaded songs I didn't need on spotify. Once again not a super high tech solution but it definitely helped me.

I would give Spacesniffer a run, to see what actually is using diskspace.

Then also check if you have a "Windows.old" folder. If you have upgraded Windows, you will have an Windows.old folder that contains previous Windows and this folder can take up a few GB's of diskspace.

It's not a virus, the only issue that I've found with it is it can encourage you to install bloatware, but if you have half a brain you can pretty easily avoid it by just checking some boxes.

They did have a hack back in 2017 but have since maintained a clean record. If you don't want to use it though, that's fine. Was just a suggestion.

There is unlikely to be a "problem" causing it to take up more space - that's just how Windows and other automatically updated software works.

None of your auto-updated software will remain the same size forever. You simply do not have enough space, and you need to remove something - something significant, not a handfull of documents - from your PC.

You have an extremely small SSD for a modern windows+some applications setup.

I do also strongly side with you though - do not uce CCleaner, it is snake oil at best and registry damaging at worst. The types of things it could remove are unlikely to make any notable dent in the stored data.

This is 100% your solution. You need more storage space. Windows is just ..... Full of Shit ...... and needs space.

There is nothing wrong with CCleaner. It is just like anything else that clams to clean your reg and system. It can mess up. That's why it's very important to back up your system and data. - CCleaner even recommends it before cleaning. - So we can go ahead and stop with the biased opinions on software and lets find solutions. 🙂

Windows 11 needs 64GB to "function" (without any additional software installed)

You can check TreeSizeFree a program that shows what files/folders are taking up space. Sometimes after update windows doesn't remove its install packages automatically and eat up storage.

If you want to optimize Windows or de-bloat it you can use "Windows Debloater" script https://github.com/Raphire/Win11Debloat

Uninstalled all the shit you don't need (Edge, OneDrive, Bing, Windows Spotshit, Xbox, etc.)

120GB is low... my dude....

Alternately you can scrap Windows entirely and consider Tiny Core Linux, which can fit on a 10MB disk.... imagine all the porn you can download.

I'd like to know upon what basis anyone here thinks CClceaner is going to solve a storage space problem.

The argument from the beginning was that its bad for your reg., not finding storage space. It was even recommended to clean unused files in the system itself and wouldn't make that much room.

This comment is irrelevant to what I said.

CCleaner is a fine tool to help clean the reg. and unused system files that common PC uses do not know how to do. - I ALWAYS recommend backing up your system regardless if you are cleaning things or not.-

I should have mentioned that if you can't get a new drive right now you can use treesize. It's a perfectly fine tool that shows what and where your storage is going. Even orginazies it from the most to the least. If your space is in the Windows folder then there isn't much you can do there except get a bigger drive.

when I hunt for used space champions, I use:

I find WizTree much better. It's like 10 times as fast in scanning your drive. WinDirStat takes a few minutes to scan my 2TB drive, WizTree scans it in under 10 secons
