if your budget is around $200 or under i would suggest a R9 270X or a GTX 760

both card  have most of the same capabilties but the 270x has a advantage app called :Zero core: it turns off your GPU when your monitor is in sleep mode

And the 760 has: gamestream, geforce experience, g sync, shadowplay...

as I said the 270 or 270x have the app that match what 760 has except for the zero core

You could argue that gamestream is replaced by steam streaming and that shadowplay can be replaced with obs, but g sync doesn't have a amd equivalent until new monitors come out in about 6 months to a year. the AMD solutions seem to lack polish on most fronts though.

actually the amd has something called pradator that coveres both shadow play and streaming

If by AMD you mean MSI than yes there is predator, but it is no where near as nice as shadow play and it does not do game streaming.

I personally would take the cheapest GTX 760 you can find if that will be your only PC and video card (keep in mind that they run $40-$50 more than your $200 budget but I feel they are worth the extra cost).  Nvidia seems to have fewer issues in my experience than AMD, I prefer NVCP to AMD's CCC, Nvidia's drivers are historically better updated and less buggy (though they've been a little crappy as of late), and the 760's GPU is flat out a beast to be honest.  A LOT of power for the money.

The R9 270X is absolutely solid if you really want to stick to your $200 budget and will have no problem playing any of the current hot titles at 1080p maxed out (1440p may need some reduced AA or something but still should run pretty decent).  Either way you go I'd recommend a good non-reference design from MSI or Asus etc just because the cooling will be better and the looks of course will be better as well.  Unless you're going for blocks in which case you will likely need reference...

Try $350 for a 760 in Australia

Newegg wont ship that to Australia.

@Goldhome3 Centrecom has Sapphire Vapor X 270X's for $239

Sorry, missed the Australia bit.  Then again, is the 270 even $200 in Australia?  They have crazy pricing down there...
