Hi,

I have an RTX 3070 paired with a Ryzen 5 2600X, and powered by a Thermaltake Toughpower 750W PSU. I'm experiencing GPU crashes when playing demanding games and I'm not sure what's the culprit.

What happens is whenever I launch a demanding, the fans get super loud, much more than they used to. I tried cleaning up the fans but there was little to no dust in them. I also notice that the temperature doesn't change much when the fans speed up. I tried to change the fan curves but I'm getting inconsistent results. When the extra noise starts, it eventually crashes, with the screen going dark and the fans running at full speed.

At this point, I think either the GPU is dying, or the PSU is dying, because I've seen people online having similar behaviors due to a PSU issue. Unfortunately I don't have another PSU around to test with, so I'd like to know if there is any way to test the PSU and/or clearly figuring out which component should be replaced or fixed.

Thanks

Maybe you can take the 3070 to a friend and test it on his pc?

If it works without problem over there then it might be your PSU. How old is the PSU?

I don't have any friend who's into PC building unfortunately. As for the PSU, it's 5 or 6 years old.
