PSU burnt due to reverse voltage? Compatibility question

I have a cm850 silent pro that died on me yesterday and I was told it was dude to reverse voltage. I have a 1 kva ups to prevent over voltage.

My config

I7 2600k , r9 290 ,16 gb ram and 2 HDDs

I have a spair 650w supply

My qiestion

1. Is the corsair 650w 12v rail enough to power my system?

2. Reverse voltage ? Can such a thing affect my PSU?

Thanks a lot

Sorry about the format this is my first post.

AC voltage cannot be reversed as the voltage swings between plus minus and back to plus 50 times a second.

"Have you tried turning it off and on again?"
