This may be the first non negative Comcast post on this forum, and even though I hate Comcast here goes...

I have 50MBs internet (about 6.5 megabytes a second) and unlike a lot of people, I don't have throttling or anything, I saw a Tek Syndicate video in which I turned off his VPN and couldn't load Youtube, I have none of that.  Alright, sounds lucky so far right?

Here is the kicker!  I just noticed while downloading a game, I WAS GETTING 8.93 MEGABYTES A SECOND!  Nearly 70MBs!  What is up with that?  Why do they love me so much?

Anyone else experienced this?

It's completely normal. Game you were downloading was probably peer to peer download and you got over the download speed because there few people from your isp.

Also 50mbs is not set in stone. It's about that. I have 100/100 connection and I climb over it in torrents sometimes too.

Oh yeah and if it's origin it's just lying to you.

It was Origin, but I wasn't lying since the game downloaded INSANELY fast!  Normally a 30GB game would take over an hour and it took 40 mins.  I don't think Origin is peer to peer.  On Steam I have some times hit 8.0 Megabytes, my internet seems really fast today.

Its the download client. I have 50/10 same as you and when I'm downloading a game from steam or origin it will usually say 9-12megabytes while if I go to task manager and go to networking I can clearly see I am only getting 6.4-6.5

Its possible that it might be steam saying that thats how fast their server is sending it to you but I can tell you thats not what your getting sadly. Or its just a bug with the software. I know origin tends to be like that. A LOT!

Also don't data caps bother you? Thats a big reason to hate comcast, along with terrible customer service(voted worst customer satisfaction company in america) and false advertising....

Whaa? You don't have a 300gb data cap??! And I just said your not getting 9mbps its just origin/steam saying that. If you want download a game and go to task manager then networking and see the percentage being used.

I believe only very select places do, and that is a testing version...  And would you like to explain why the game downloaded 50% faster if Origin was lying?

all I'm asking is next time you download a game go to task manager click on networking and if your on a gigabit network whatever percentage it says is being used is how many mbs you are getting. Now if even with this it says 9% then good for you! And Yea I do have a data cap. And I'm basically in the middle of the woods so why did they pick me to test it on?

I don't have data caps. I know people get throttled if they use the upload too much (live streaming) but thats it. Also, I've noticed if you live near a big city like San Francisco your internet is awful at times. I live near Boston, and I have never had any issues with them.

Yea as far as that goes I've never experienced slow speeds or throttling (that I know of) but of course I do live in an area where most other people have a 3mbit Internet so it's not like comcast has any problems providing the Data.
